Why Do I Compare Myself to Everyone Else?
Understanding comparison, self-worth and the feeling of never being enough.
Someone always seems ahead. So why does that make me feel behind?
Have you ever looked at someone else’s life, appearance, relationships or achievements and suddenly felt that what you have — or who you are — is not enough?

Why Do We Compare Ourselves to Others?
Comparison is a natural part of how we understand ourselves.
We look around us to evaluate where we stand, what is possible and whether we belong.
But comparison becomes painful when it repeatedly leaves us feeling inadequate, behind, unattractive, unsuccessful or somehow less worthy.
Social media can intensify this process by exposing us to carefully selected versions of other people’s lives, while we compare them with the full complexity of our own.
The result can be a constant sense that someone else is doing better, looking better, achieving more or living the life we should already have.
A Question Worth Asking
“Am I seeing someone else’s life — or using it as evidence against my own?”
Comparison is not always about jealousy.
Sometimes it reveals something important about our own needs, values, ambitions or insecurities.
The difficulty begins when another person’s success becomes proof of our own failure.
Instead of asking:
“Why am I not where they are?”
we can begin asking:
“What does this comparison tell me about what matters to me?”
That shift can turn comparison from self-judgement into useful information.
Who Is This Workshop For?
This workshop may be helpful if you:
Frequently compare your appearance, relationships or achievements with others
Feel that everyone else seems to be moving forward faster than you
Struggle with feelings of inadequacy after using social media
Minimise your own achievements when someone else succeeds
Feel pressure to reach certain milestones by a particular age
Often wonder whether you are “good enough”
Compare your private struggles with other people’s visible successes
Feel jealous and then criticise yourself for feeling that way
Find it difficult to recognise your own progress
Want to understand what your comparisons may be telling you
Want to build a more stable sense of self-worth
What to Expect
This is a live psychoeducational and experiential workshop, combining psychological knowledge with guided reflection and practical exercises.
We will explore why comparison is such a powerful psychological process, how it can influence self-worth and how social expectations, life milestones and social media can strengthen feelings of inadequacy.
Participants will also have the opportunity to identify some of their own comparison patterns and begin distinguishing between comparison that provides useful information and comparison that repeatedly undermines their sense of worth.
There is no expectation to share personal experiences with the group. You may participate in the way that feels most comfortable for you.
The workshop is designed for personal growth and self-reflection and does not replace individual psychotherapy or mental health treatment.
